Feeling Formosa

It’s been awhile since it rained. Today’s light sprinkle helped soften the soil on the other side of the backyard where I intend to plant more sunflower babies. The other side already has my first batch and one already became a casualty to an unknown pest that nibbled it right in the middle. It decided to attack one of the bigger ones too. I tried to save the seedling by tying it up, but it was literally hanging by a thread of plant tissue so I just decided to uproot and toss it and that was a bummer since it was already three weeks old.

Taiwan has been on my mind for some days now since there were reports their democracy is being threatened by communist China. It’s not the only country in Asia that’s being threatened. China is literally doing what the Japanese did in the past with their Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere pre-WWII, an imperialistic move in the guise of helping develop other countries. Who would have thought we would see the day where the United States would be Germany’s equivalent.

At the time, Germany was run by Hitler and his national socialist party. The socialist tendencies of the current US administration makes it lenient when it comes to dealing with the evils of the Chinese regime. It’s funny how the info thrown at us as we look up the NAZI (socialist) party tells us it was a far-right movement when as we speak, we clearly see that socialism is far-left. You would have to look hard to find genuine Conservatives advocate for Socialism.

I don’t know when I’ll get to travel out of the country after the CCP virus changed the whole world. My husband and I watched Contagion yesterday and it was interesting that the pandemic in the movie originated from a Chinese territory and was spread to the whole world via air travel. Are people supposed to take cues from entertainment when it comes to future events? There was Bird Box, then there are recurring themes on asteroids hitting the earth and aliens. But, to answer my own question, we cannot trust Hollywood. The only thing we can trust is the Word of God. Matthew 24 has a quick summary on what the whole world is currently experiencing.

If China got their way, I wonder if Taiwan will still keep this prayer room at the airport. It was good to be able to sit there in solitude as I was waiting to catch the flight home.

To my Taiwanese brother and sisters, put your trust in Jesus Christ.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33
