The “Red Sea” Of Poppy Flowers

We all could use a red sea moment at some point in our lives. Just days ago, I was intent on finding a poppy field. I found a blue sea of flowers that day. The red field was yet for an appointed time. The search wasn’t going to be long, but only days. We tend to appreciate something much better when it presents itself without anxiously going about looking.

“Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37:4

This applies to everything — a house, a spouse, or whatever it is we may be after. I mention spouse (since today happens to be Father’s day) because my future husband at the time came into my life when I wasn’t looking.

As for the house, I must say that our search in UT went bust, but we are waiting on the Lord. The very same day that we were informed someone before us signed on the house we applied for, we got a timely message from a pastor that when God closes the door on something, it is for our protection. It was specific to our situation. God uses people to convey His message. Some think people do things randomly, but that is not so, especially when it comes to His children.

“The mind of a person plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

There are three governing influences in our lives – the Holy Spirit, the flesh and the enemy of our souls. We first have to receive Jesus Christ as Savior in order to walk in the Spirit (John 3:7). When we choose not to walk according to the Holy Spirit, we end up walking in the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) and we can easily do the adversary’s bidding (Galatians 5:16, 2 Timothy 2:26).

To those who are looking for “the one,” if it looks impossible to find that person in a vast pool of homogeneity, surrender your specifications to the Lord. Since He knows everything, you can trust that whomever He brings into your life is good. He will not send you someone who does not fear Him as that would be against His word (2 Corinthians 6:14). The delay may seem unbearable, but there are reasons that only He knows, one of them would be to prepare us for what He is to bring about.

While the current circumstance we may find ourselves in prompts us to sit in the waiting room, we are to stay faithful to the Lord. Everything God does is always prompted by the love He has for us.

I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.”

Hosea 2:19
