Attaching oneself to a thinker does not automatically make one a thinker. One does not only inherit the good but also the flawed parts of their reasoning. Some go as far as saying those Christians who do not attach themselves to these men’s theology has something to do with thinking about knowing more than the scholars. Nothing could be further from the truth. The reason is plainly written in the bible. You will not see the schism originating among the simple but rather from those who claim they are learned.
If this is you and you feel distant from God, maybe the sectarian mentality is catching up to you.
