This plant is green, but if it were to be continually covered with a blanket of ice, it will be severely damaged. Just last year, around this time of year, the Cherry Blossoms were already blooming. This year, they’re non-existent. Most of their branches happened to be cut off from last week’s weather anomaly. Last week also had a spiritual storm of some sort when disgraceful details have been brought to light rocking the Christian world. We do not know the severity of the impact it is doing to Christians worldwide who looked up to the man as their spiritual mentor. Most unbelievers already have preconceptions that the church is full of hypocrites and something like this only exacerbates the problem. To make their claim more accurate, the church is full of recovering hypocrites (Galatians 2:11-21). Acknowledging there is a sin problem they can’t fix themselves IS the beginning of wisdom.
None of us truly know the moment our Savior comes to take us. I’m speaking of the Rapture, but this could also mean the unexpected circumstances of instant death via accidents, brain aneurysm, heart attacks, gun violence, severe weather patterns, tsunamis or weapons of mass destruction. What is evident is that the sad realities exposing the duplicitous nature of those in Christian leadership is accomplishing something behind the scenes- the purification of the Bride of Christ. Jesus is coming soon and He expects us to walk blameless lives free from the love of money that corrupts the soul, free from the lust of the flesh that taints the purity of one’s heart and free to see the reality that we are indeed living on borrowed time.
Last week’s storm already severed plenty of branches and the trees severely damaged were cut off. God is merciful and He forewarns us that even when things get really bad, there will be those who will persist in their unrighteous ways (Revelation 9:20-21). If God has been dealing with you repeatedly about something and you continue to ignore heeding His warning,
“And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
P.S. I do not usually promote a movie, but recently got reminded of Geostorm. We rented it last week spurred by the aberrant weather we were experiencing. When people try to play God, things always go haywire.
