Denying Dunamis

Proclaiming the unadulterated truth of the gospel is not reserved just for pastors and Chrislebrities. Some have reached that status because God allowed it, but it shows us people’s tendency to put flawed people on a pedestal and when they realize they too are human, they end up disappointed when their perception does not match reality. Jesus is to be the center of attention, not the witness. God specializes in using faulty equipment to show us that only He has the power (dunamis) to make something work despite our expectations (1 Corinthians 1:27).

When dealing with a skeptic, have you heard them cry circular reasoning on you? Pause and think about the true origin of the statement. It is with every intent to deny power (dunamis) released from the Word. If you are prompted to quote Scriptures to someone, do not allow yourself to be intimidated. We already paraphrase most of the time when we talk to people, but of course making sure to keep the meat of the message intact. When we say “Jesus Saves,” it is a super short version of John 3:16-17 and Acts 16:31 with truth intact. One can choose to believe the statement or reject it. Hopefully, the person will choose to find out the truth of the matter. Let’s not forget, there is power (dunamis) in the name when invoked with the right motive.

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:11

There is power in The Word. Don’t let modern-day academia with post-modern thinking convince you otherwise. After all, what makes their uncertainty superior to your conviction when the same folks easily accept every perception, preference and philosophy with the exception of Christianity? Aren’t they already guilty of being exclusive in your exclusion?

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6

I only post once a day, so as a non sequitur (way way back, an acquaintance once told me I employ this a lot- I somewhat agree yet disagree), aren’t you tired of all the silver and smoke screens? There’s enough drama in real life to have to see it in fiction form (laced with propaganda) portrayed by overpaid individuals, whose dirty laundry serve as smoke screens to cover up the direness of exposing a deeper problem – normalizing hatred within the high ranks of government.

    1. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” 1 Peter 3:15

  2. I have to tell you that I was put to some what of a test with a few of the younger generation and their climate control. I was lead to tell them -kindly, lovingly and matter of factory that I was done talking because I could tell that they wanted a debate. I had to tell them that I believe in THE God and I believe He is in control because that is what His Written Holy Word and living Holy Word Jesus says – there fore I have nothing left to say.. amazingly BY THE POWER OF GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT THEY SAID NOT ANOTHER WORD 👍🏻🙏🏻💕

    1. Sometimes, autocorrect does that. That is why I do not like using my phone. It bugs me when it assumes what I want to say that is not listed in their word list and corrects it. It even one time corrected my text to call my brother a Dog. His nickname was not listed. It was funny and irritating at the same time.ヅ

    2. It’s not always easy to explain my faith in God to one that has none….do you know what I mean? It’s the constant repetition of the question”but how do you know” that they like to badger one with… 😔

    3. Debating is not necessarily arguing. We are told to contend for the faith (Jude 3-4) and give them an answer of the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15).

Sometimes, God uses you to explain to the person how you have come to believe what you believe apart from your testimony. We CAN depend on the truth of God’s Word, but we must not shy away from explaining why. There are some who has never heard it from anyone and that’s where you come in.
