Have you ever seen an ancient tree? As you walk through the forest, you really can’t help but wonder how old those trees have been there. Some of us have the desire to know the exact figures and some, by observing the evident characteristics of a tree can gauge that it has been there for a really really long time, not decades, but even centuries before any of us were even born.
God is like an ancient tree (Genesis 2:9 – the tree of life). An ancient tree will always continue its dominion over the forest removed from humanity’s deliberate act. People make the deliberate decision to cut it off for various reasons just like people make the choice to cut God out of their lives.
Even then, He will always be.
“Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!”
To the one who is contemplating on walking away from God:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
