A Clear Picture of God’s Disgust With Sin

If you happen to be the kind of person who gets easily disgusted, this may not be for you, but since you’re already here, I suggest you might as well read through and probably learn a lesson or two.

The Rotisserie Chicken

Today, July 14th, I got awoken by a repugnant dream. I looked at the clock and it was a little bit past 4 AM. In the dream, I was at the store scoping out rotisserie chicken. It was pretty unorthodox how the customers could pick out from an exposed array of chicken on the heated stainless steel display, not prepackaged like you would normally see at Walmart or Sam’s Club. The store had an older male associate standing by. As I was about to pick one, I happened to see a white thing slither into the chicken skin. Somehow, I got something like a spoon in my hand to try to pry it where the thing went and there it was, a nasty parasite. It was a thin white disgusting parasite that in my prying decided to rear its nastiness out into the open. The associate had some kind of tong or forceps to deal with the thing.

The House

On the same dream, I found myself in a house with a man and a woman. Both seemed to be middle-aged. I remember the woman to almost have a complete crown of gray hair. In their house was also a young woman who looked to be in her early teens who happened to be laying on a folding bed. The scenario I saw was truly abominable. It was clear the old man wanted to have sexual relations with the young woman in front of his wife with the husband explaining that he has proclivities for someone young and that he couldn’t help it. I got the impression that he was putting the blame on his wife that it was her fault she couldn’t satisfy that particular desire of his. I saw the wife naked stooping on a corner clinging to her knees ashamed in resignation to her husband’s revelation.

As I wrote the dream in pen and paper, it becomes obvious that the first disgusting illustration is one and the same as the second. It is to expose something that does not belong where it is.

We all enjoy food and we certainly don’t want to ingest something we know to have parasites in it. We know that parasites live off the host and if left untreated, it would literally drain its host and possibly lead to a life lived not as vibrant as it normally should have been if it weren’t for the infection.

It would be a complete and utter lie to say no humans enjoy sex. God made it so and to be enjoyed but in the confines of marriage. In a marriage, the parasite could be pornography, a lust problem untreated which leads to serial infidelity. Jesus also tells us He regards adultery in the heart no better than actual adultery. It is different in physical degree but it is nevertheless classified as one and the same. Sin is sin and there’s no excuse. This sexual sin does not belong especially in a Christian household, one that could literally defile the sanctity of a holy union ordained by God.

Let’s dwell on Jesus’ own words in Mark 7:14-23,

“Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.) He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

I can’t help but linger on the rotisserie chicken imagery. The illustration is utterly and completely revolting it has traumatized me in such a way that I think I’m going to stay away from buying chicken for dinner for awhile until God takes away this lingering feeling of complete disgust. Imagine eating something without you knowing what you’re enjoying is chock full of parasites, but thank God it was only a mere symbol to make it relatable for me. As a woman, I do not suffer with pornography nor lust but I did ask God to give me something to write about the day before and the first illustration was given for me to understand in a degree how abominable the sin of defiling a marriage bed truly is to God.
